BIO

Santos is a self-taught artist and currently resides in Los Angeles, California. Born in LA, his artistic roots trace back to his childhood spent in Jalisco, Mexico. At age 12, his father bought him an old Apple PowerPC laptop, leading him to create “animated” stories on PowerPoint. Everything changed when he found his uncle’s discarded Hi-8 camera in the basement. Through creating short films with his family, film became a powerful tool of self-expression.

In high school, Santos enrolled in Telecommunication and Journalism class, where he honed his cinematography and editing skills, earning two student Emmy’s in Editing and Technical Achievement. As his passion for film grew, he dedicated weekends and breaks working as an Art Department PA on music videos and film promos for Disney.

Despite his demanding schedule, he continued to direct and edit his own short films. His dedication earned him acceptance to the competitive film program at California State Summer School for the Arts (CSSSA) at CalArts. He also received the distinguished honor of serving as a Juror at the Giffoni Film Festival. Upon graduating high school, Santos taught video editing to high-schoolers at the Echo Park Film Center and CSSSA, the program he had previously attended.

Currently Santos is a freelance video editor, boasting an impressive portfolio of projects for Netflix, Apple, Amazon and more. When he’s not in the edit room, he’s doodling on his Nintendo 3DS, experimenting with After Effects or learning a new tool. Whether it’s in the form of animation, live action or art design, Santos continues to explore alternative ways to tell stories.
